About Us

Cole, Martin & Co., Ltd. (CMC) was established in August 1991 to provide accounting, computer consulting, and tax services to small and closely-held businesses. Stephen Cole, William Martin, and a former partner founded the company. It has been located in the Northern Illinois region since its inception. Janet Nelson became a partner in January 2000, after eight years of service with CMC. Together the three partners initiated major transformations within the firm.

In the following months, CMC aligned itself with RAN ONE. The partners received extensive training in the area of business development and are members of RAN ONE - the largest global network of independent accounting firms in the world, specializing in the small-to-medium sized enterprise (SME) market.

CMC prides itself on not being the traditional accounting firm focused solely on tax and accounting issues. Instead, CMC takes a proactive role in offering services and support to add value and grow businesses.

In the area of software implementation, CMC is especially proud of having team members with credentials in the areas of QuickBooks, Peachtree, Sage MAS90, and Crystal Reports. CMC's objective is to help their clients obtain the accounting data, information, or services that they want from their current systems - from the most basic to highly sophisticated - in a timely and professional manner.

CMC now has nine dedicated members on their team and is positioned for continued development. With its growing client base and expanded service offerings, CMC remains determined to maintain the personal touch with its clients and is committed to their success.
