Software Piracy Can Cost Your Company $$$

Just what is that annoying screen that pops up when you
are loading software on your computer? The one that says "Please read
the following agreement ... You must accept this agreement to install
the software."
In the workplace, software piracy generally takes place in two forms:
employees make copies of software and take them home, or extra copies
are made for the office.
So what...everyone does it! That's the problem; everyone does it and
businesses that knowingly or unknowingly duplicate software expose
themselves to severe criminal and financial penalties. Penalties can
include fines as high as $250,000 and/or jail time with sentences up
to five years.
What should your company do about software piracy?
 | Follow this simple rule: One software package per
computer
|
 | Remove unlicensed software or purchase additional
licenses
|
 | Establish a software policy to help avoid
violations of software licensing |
