Decadent Chocolates


Is all chocolate created equally? No, according to Jeff Peterson, President and CEO of Decadent Chocolates, an enterprise dedicated to the creation of high quality premium chocolates hand crafted in the French tradition of exotic imported French ingredients and completely free of artificial additives.

Jeff, along with a graduate of Chicago French Pastry School, saw a niche in the market that would appreciate true premium chocolate rather than the more common machine-made artificially-enhanced variety. The enterprise found its home as an independent company in the 26,000 square-foot building of The Fulfillment Network, Inc., another company owned and operated by Jeff Peterson and located on Elgin's west side.

In addition to catering to the premium chocolate niche, they added the capability to personalize the chocolate itself, in effect making the chocolate a promotional item. Decadent uses a unique logo silk-screening process that allows for the customization of chocolates with your or your client's corporate logo, silk-screened in cocoa butter, with incredible edible detail, all right on the chocolate! Themes, logos, words, pictures all are possible, as are custom molds.

"One of our first sales was to United Airlines," said Jeff. United officials, meeting on an unrelated topic, caught the aroma of chocolate wafting throughout the building from the kitchen. Jeff brought over a tray of caramelized macadamia nuts and today United remains a faithful customer along with Harris Bank, and the Cordice division of Johnson and Johnson. 

Retail outlets have also proved popular for Decadent and their products can be found at the Milk Pail gift shop in East Dundee and Al's Café & Creamery in Elgin. I built my first company by attention to detail and personal service, reflected Jeff, and that's how I'm building this one too.
